Akhand specializes in inclusive digital development, specifically in financial services, gender, the future of work, and livelihoods. He has worked in several countries, including Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lao PDR, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Senegal, Solomon Islands, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Uganda, and Zambia. Akhand leads digital inclusive development work at MSC, specifically focusing on gender equality, social inclusion, financial services policy & practice, and data sciences. 

Akhand holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Forest Management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) in Bhopal, India. Akhand is fluent in Hindi and English and has a working knowledge of French and Bangla.
