Abhishek Anand

Partner

Abhishek is a Partner at MSC’s Inclusive Banking and Enterprise Development (IB & ED) Domain in Asia. He is a banking and microfinance expert with more than 17 years of experience. Abhishek has worked on onsite projects with banks, MFIs, and financial cooperatives in India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Fiji, the United Kingdom, France, and Luxembourg. He has advised more than 150 development and financial institutions, regulators, and policymakers across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Pacific regions.

Abhishek manages large, long-term projects and leads multi-country teams, and was also appointed the Country Manager for MSC, Indonesia between October, 2011 and September, 2012. He is experienced in project management and delivery of technical assistance and specializes in the development of strategy and strengthening of delivery systems. Abhishek is an expert in institutional assessments and credit ratings and has also developed digital financial services for MFIs along with the design and development of policies and processes to improve efficiency and overall sustainability. Abhishek advises financial institutions to strengthen the MSME lending business and is experienced in social performance management and client protection along with human resource management for organizational development. He recently conducted a feasibility study in Bangladesh for the transformation of MFIs into banks. Abhishek also manages a large digital transformation project in Bangladesh and Vietnam that helps MFIs and Banks digitize payments, protect processes and information, and manage the human resource for organizational development.

Before joining MSC, Abhishek worked for Grameen Koota Financial Service as a Division Manager. He was responsible for the North Karnataka division where he expanded portfolio operations. Abhishek also worked for ACCESS Development Services as a microfinance expert for 3.5 years, where he assisted MFIs in India. He also advised MoFAD, a microfinance company based in Kabul, under a major international assignment in Afghanistan funded by CARE International to strengthen its systems. Abhishek holds a postgraduate diploma in Forest Management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. He is fluent in English and Hindi and has a working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.
