Jenifer Shapiro is MSC’s Global Lead of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives based in Washington, DC. She has more than 15 years of experience working in corporate finance with boutique valuation advisory firms and consulting experience in microfinance and development finance gained through projects with international NGOs, microfinance credit rating agencies, and international development finance institutions. She has worked in Thailand, Moldova, India, and East Africa.

Jenifer works closely with senior management to diversify into new sectors, form strategic partnerships, conduct market intelligence, and generate insights. Jenifer oversees proposal submissions to bilateral and multilateral banks and corporate and private foundations. She provides technical and administrative oversight throughout the proposal submission process coordinating across MSCs regional offices. Before joining MSC, Jenifer was a Senior Manager at Valuation Services. She valued small and middle-market private companies for financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance, stock compensation plans, and litigation support. Jenifer also consulted for the Grameen Foundation; in this capacity, she was charged with valuing Grameen’s program-related equity investments in microfinance institutions (MFIs) and early-stage consumer goods companies located in India, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Tufts University with a specialization in International Affairs. Jenifer also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree specializing in finance and a Master of Arts in International Affairs, specializing in International Political Economy from American University. She is proficient in French.
