In addition to having a PhD from Panjab University in Chandigarh, India, Dr. Ratha is an experienced development professional with dual master's degrees in social work and education. He also holds a PG Diploma in Public Health Nutrition and Guidance & Counselling. He has over 23 years of experience working with government departments, research institutes, and non-governmental organisations and is passionate about nutrition-sensitive practices, especially promoting aquatic foods in long-term healthy diets.

As a Senior Specialist at WorldFish India, he is promoting the value of aquatic foods in human nutrition and public health through local government support to incorporate small fish-based products in ICDS and School Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) to nourish young minds and creating opportunities for Farmers Producer Companies (FPC) and Women self-help group (WSHGs) in convergence with different government departments for provisioning of services, fishing related activities (fish production, fish seed, feed production, quality dried fish production including value-added products) for better income generation and women’s empowerment.
